Babysitting

Do you remember when you would be babysitting and the kids were going crazy and you would think, "Only so many more minutes until their parents get home!"? Sometimes parenting feels like that, except that no one is arriving to relieve you.

I keep wondering when the awesome $10 bill will be placed in my hands too.

Speaking of babysitters, I despise the fact that babysitters are an arm and a leg these days. Phewww, I feel better now! :)

I count down the minutes until bedtime...almost every day. I just get worn out! 7 kids at home, homeschooling, I just want to think my own thoughts!
I used to count down until the kids went to bed while babysitting too, but that was usually so I could rummage around in the fridge for something yummy. I actually used to babysit for 10 year old twin boys who were quite dreadful. Thier mom paid me $1 an hour, which even in 1986 was awful, but she was Italian, and made the most delicious cheesecake. I did it for the cheesecake. Yup.

Sometimes, I am still waiting on the mother of my 19 year old to come get her. LOL

I totally hear you. There was this moment when my son was still a baby that it dawned on me, "Oh crap, 3 p.m. doesn't mean his mother comes to pick him up. I am his mother. And I don't get summers off either."

There are definitely days when my husband and I say to each other (sometimes at 6 p.m.!) "Is it bed time yet???" :)
